With Faith Comes Life

With Faith comes life

Faith is living by believing in something that cannot be seen, cannot be touched, tasted or smelt, faith is one of most powerful elements a man can master.  Those who choose to live by faith have something many do not have, some call it luck, some call it talent and others are just plain jealous and want some of their magic.  But there is no magic, there is no luck and there is nothing to be jealous about because faith is available for us all and it is free.

The bible is littered with verses about trust and believing along with some simple best practices as business leadership books might put it.  The book of proverbs gives list upon list of wise sayings that are just as meaningful today as they were thousands of years ago and many of them require faith.  The New testament is a living word where Jesus Christ encourages trust and belief by having faith in the Father.

Matthew 7:7 is one of the most well-known bible verses “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. “ (NIV) but it requires believing and that is faith.  Christ slam dunks the faith in his very next sentence “8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”  This is a PROMISE from God and if you believe you will receive.  But so many of all fall just short of believing enough to bring about what we asked for.  Matthew 21:22 says “”And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” How much more of a promise do you want?

Faith is inside each and every one of us and our faith can grow and the more faith we have the stronger we become to a point where we trust so much that without faith we know we would not be in the place of joy, contentment and even abundance that we are.  Growing ones faith, taking it from the mustard seed to the full grown tree is not difficult, there  is no magic or secret method to grow your faith, there are no rituals or ceremonies that have to be completed and no exams to take. Your faith will be tested, of course it will and that is all part of growing your faith and growing in faith. But growing your faith requires nothing more than getting closer to God Romans 10:17 says “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” NKJV

The Message Bible sums things up really well

“But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it? That’s why Scripture exclaims,

A sight to take your breath away! Grand processions of people telling all the good things of God!

But not everybody is ready for this, ready to see and hear and act. Isaiah asked what we all ask at one time or another: “Does anyone care, God? Is anyone listening and believing a word of it?” The point is: Before you trust, you have to listen. But unless Christ’s Word is preached, there’s nothing to listen to.”

Faith has to grow, it will grow and without it many of us will remain underachievers in God’s eyes. With all the worry and stress in this world Faith is surely the cure.  Jesus calmed the storm while all around him chaos was occurring, when He did this miracle faith in his disciples was restored and perhaps Jesus was a little fed up too and you can kind of expect him to say “how many more times must I show you before you have faith?”. Today we all seem to need to see to believe but faith demands we do not need to see. Living by faith requires belief and belief in knowing that what you have asked for will come to pass.  But then we all believe we don’t have enough faith or it is too hard and yet truthfully we need very little faith, another promise from God says we do not need a lot Matthew 17:20 “He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

No matter how little faith you have you can use it, you can grow it and by growing close to God faith will be one of the most important parts of your life that will truly give you life.  Take your mustard seed and plant it, believe it will grow and enjoy the rewards of just having faith.
