Sing praise in the storm

So many of us have problems in life, finances, health, family, jobs, the list is almost endless and getting through whatever it is seems almost impossible.  But then when we do get through the challenge we find ourselves in a revolving door only to be back in the same or very similar place with the same or another problem.  The Cancer comes back, the bill gets paid and then another appears, the job is won and then the company folds. Never ending and for so many it is what they call ”facts of life”

But God never wanted this for you, His Son never died on that Cross for you to be sick, miserable and struggling. God doesn’t like seeing you upset, worried and unwell but yet for so many of us that is our life or “our choosing”.

There is a ridiculous way out of this and one that at first glance will have you rejecting it without giving it any thought.  Be Happy.

When David and the other Psalmists wrote the Psalms they had some pretty tough things happening in life.  Psalm 23, perhaps the best known of all the Psalms, sums up the ebb and flow of life perfectly and gives the first clue about how to overcome the challenges. In fact the solution to life’s problems is answered in the first few words “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. “ (NKJV) or better put in the Message “Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need!” The solution lies in knowing that you have everything you need because you have God.

The Psalm then takes you by some green meadows, some nice quiet places and then trouble comes when you “walk in the shadow of the valley of death”  and that valley is where so many of us find ourselves. And why do we find ourselves there?  The answer is that we have had an attack of amnesia and forgotten the very first words and the most important part of the Christian faith. We have forgotten God is with us and with him even Isaiah in the Old Testament knew “no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.” (Isaiah 54:17 NIV).

It’s really very simple when you have God on your side and the solution to getting through the troubles is to learn to dance in the rain and praise God in the storm. The Devil hates it when we are happy, especially when he is throwing so much at us. Jump for joy, be happy because Psalm 23 says ““Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need” and therefore you can be happy, you have nothing to fear and you can choose, yes choose, to be happy.

Laughter has been medically proven to cure cancer. Now if that is not a sign your delight in anything overcomes it then dancing in the rain and praising God in the storm you are in right now is the best thing you can do. Be happy Christ died for you, celebrate the fact that you have Christ in your life and put on your happy face and God will guide you through your challenges.
